Flower Show 2020

FLOWER SHOW CANCELLED

We are so sorry – it is with huge regret that we have decided we must cancel this year’s Flower Show, due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19. We even went so far as to try and replace the Show with a small horticultural competition, to be held in the Village Hall (and just outside, in the car park), with a one-way system and social-distancing in place. However, with a medical opinion that using an indoor venue was not recommended, the Committee felt that we could not provide sufficient reassurances that the event would be safe for those attending. We also had to take into account that the British weather is totally unpredictable!  So that idea was abandoned. Then we tried to put in place a “garden-share” experience instead, but we were unable to secure sufficient support to go ahead with this idea. So, with huge reluctance and sadness, this is yet another of our popular events to be cancelled this year. Of course, you will all understand the need to put our health and well-being before all other concerns.

It is small comfort, but the Royal Horticultural Society rescheduled several of its events for September (including the famous Hampton Court Flower Show), in the hope of proceeding, but these too, have now been cancelled. At least we are in good company!
